No need for the added expense of an aircard and it is quick. My work requires faxing from a clients home to the home office. You do need an app called "bluethooth transfer file" on the smartphone ,I did anyway. Scanning the items and emailing them is faster and a lot cleaner. I can't always get a wifi hookup with the laptop, so I transfer the files (they are PDF files) to my smartphone and e-mail them on the 3G network. It works with large documents, the largest I sent was a 30 page pdf. The file transferred to the phone in a matter of seconds and was emailed in less time.I think the vendor was quick with the mail time and the item was packed very secure.
this adapter lets me use this fantastic Magic Mouse. I have the adapter plugged into the port on my Cinema Display.
I have an older G4 pro Mac tower and wanted to use the new Magic Mouse. I purchased this bluetooth adapter because my old D-Link bluetooth adapter wasn't compatible with the new Apple Magic Mouse.
My Magic Mouse now functions perfectly well with my G4 Mirror Drive Door tower running 10.5.8. After a lot of frustration trying to get the OLD adapter to work I performed some research on the internet and found this model.
It worked flawlessly. Yes, even with all this old equipment (these Macs just keep on working and working well).
I don't use many other bluetooth devices, but I know this also works with an older bluetooth Mighty Mouse.
I just purchased this and found that I had received the C1 version. This version will NOT wake your Mac from sleep mode. I'm going to return it.Models with versions of B2 through B4 are not affected by this issue. Here's proof from Apple:[.].
For my birthday I got a magic mouse and a wireless Apple keyboard. The wireless joy thus began. It's only a few years old and even my old PowerMac G4 notebook has bluetooth.
One problem - my Mac Pro had no bluetooth. I read a few reviews and it looked like D-link was best chance for working and I ordered it. I unplugged my wired mouse and keybouard and waited for wireless joy to begin.
Anyway, thank god the computer inventors anticipated this and created bluetooth adaptors. Wow. Who would have thought.
When it came I plugged it in back of computer in USB port and everything linked in a flash. Highly recommend.
If you have a Mac without bluetooth your choices are somewhat limited. This unit is an effective, reasonable solution that installs easily. I use my wireless keyboard and mouse from bed, which is twelve feet from my Mac equipped TV.
